The 68c has four mic preamps, two combo inputs on the front for mic, guitar or line, and two mic/line combos on the back. They're full XMAX preamps with a Class A input buffer and 80 dB of gain, a step up from the bus-powered XMAX-L in the 24c and 26c, and unlike those two the 68c runs from its own 12 V supply. You also get main outputs plus a 3/4 pair, a rear headphone jack with Cue A/B, and MIDI and S/PDIF on a 9-pin breakout cable. The manual dates from 2019, and it replaced the silver Studio 6|8. PreSonus no longer sells it new. It suits a small band setup or a producer with a couple of synths and a vocal mic. Buy one with its power supply and breakout cable.
In the photos
The 68c is the wider black box with blue end caps, STUDIO 68c on the front and four gain knobs, plus a meter window with four input ladders. The back has a rocker power switch, a 12 V DC socket, a 9-pin MIDI - S/PDIF connector and two combo inputs. The earlier Studio 6|8 USB has the same layout in silver with blue knobs and a square USB-B port.
Mac and Windows
It's class compliant on Mac and iPad, and PreSonus has supported it on Apple Silicon Macs since Universal Control 3.4.2 in March 2021. Windows needs the ASIO driver in Fender Universal Control, whose 5.1 release (July 2026) names the Studio 68c and supports Windows 10 22H2, Windows 11 24H2 and macOS 13.7.8 or later. PreSonus no longer sells it new, but its macOS 27 page (October 2026) still lists it as supported.
Power, cables and licences
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing power supply or a licence that won’t transfer should come off the price.
Listings often lose the 12 V power supply or the MIDI / S/PDIF breakout cable, and the unit won't run without the first or do MIDI without the second. We didn't find a widely reported electronic fault, so test the gain knobs, the 48V switch and every output.

We'd buy the 68c titled with its power adapter at $133 delivered from a 100% seller. Only 6 are for sale on eBay US today and most ask $130–200 delivered, and PreSonus no longer sells it new. It runs from a 12 V, 1 A center-positive supply, not USB power, so pick one with the power supply, or budget for the matching one, and ask about the 9-pin MIDI and S/PDIF breakout cable, since there's no MIDI without it. Check the photos for a black front with STUDIO 68c and a USB-C port, because silver with a square USB port is the older Studio 6|8, and ask for a video turning all four gain knobs while recording. Skip the $260 listing at about 1.8 times the median, and pay only through eBay checkout for the $110 one from a zero-feedback seller, even though its photo shows the supply and breakout cable.
